In January 1999, the Carbon County Lion/Lioness Fair Association, Inc. was established. The Bowmanstown/Parryville Lions, Franklin Township Lions, Lehighton Area Lioness Lions, Mahoning Lions, Palmerton Lions, and West Penn Lions Clubs are the clubs that make up the Association. The Association is a Non-Profit Organization 501 (c) (3) and was founded in June 1999.
The fair was intended to help the diligent young people of West Penn Township and Carbon County. The fair was established to give the children in West Penn Township and Carbon County the opportunity to demonstrate their projects and animals while also receiving the praise and encouragement they so well deserve. The Fair also aids the participating Lion and Lioness Clubs in fund-raising efforts for neighborhood initiatives, eye programs, and other Lions initiatives.
It was a major undertaking to reestablish a fair in Carbon County. We were only able to restore the fair for the worthy youngsters of our County because we had trust in ourselves, the inhabitants and businesses of Carbon County and West Penn Township (Schuylkill County), as well as faith in our Lion and Lioness Organizations. In order to boost competitiveness, the organization opened up the Open Classes of the judged exhibits to residents of West Penn Township (Schuylkill County) in 2001. The Association is quite proud of itself for organizing this fair. We sincerely hope everyone has a good time.
